17/06/2013:  The Kildysart/Coolmeen U14's gave a promising performance on their first outing in Division 1 v Eire Óg though in the end they lost by a goal and 2 points.  Emmet McMahon opened the account for the amalgamation with a point but by the end of the first quarter Eire Óg were ahead 1-1 to a point.  Eire Óg were the stronger team of the half and were leading at the break 2-5 to 5 points with Kil/Cool scores coming from Stephen Sheehan (x3) and Emmet McMahon (free).
Conor Moloney made his U14 debut when he came on at half time and made a good account of himself. The match seemed to be slipping away from Kil/Cool when Eire Óg scored another goal and immediately afterwards Eire Óg did well to defend against a Kil/Cool penalty.  However, Kil/Cool fought back and led by an outstanding performance by Stephen Sheehan scored 3-2 without reply to take the lead at the 47th minute.  The first 2 goals were by Stephen Sheehan and the last one was a long range free by Seamus Casey that Ryan Casey fisted in over the line.  The momentum was killed however when the Townies responded with a goal and 4 unanswered points to extend their lead to 4-10 to 3-7 with 6 minutes on the clock.  Kil/Cool battled on but were only able to get 1 more shot between the posts for a final score Eire Óg 4-10, Kil/Cool 3-8.  A very promising performance at the start of the campaign.  Next match is at home in Kildysart 24th June v Kilrush at 19:30.
