17/03/2013: The Intermediates celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a win over Shannon Gaels 01-07 to 5 points in the Garry Cup opener.  The Gaels were first on the scoreboard with two points in the opening minute but a free from Ger Kelly and point from Brian O'Sullivan had the sides level by the 7th minute.  Ger Kelly converted a 45' when a strike from Keith Murphy was blocked wide by the goal keeper and Damian Murtagh's free gave the 2012 Banner Cup champions a 4 to 2 point lead at end of the first quarter.  A great save from Liam Griffin preserved the lead but the remaining minutes saw the Gaels level it with a free and a point to end 4 all at the break.

Kildysart dominated the 2nd half and the opening 10 minutes of the restart saw Ger Kelly score a free and a penalty both as a result of fouls committed by the Gaels goalkeeper. The free was a result of the keeper's foul on Neilie O'Connor which earned him a yellow card.  The penalty was due to Keith Murphy being pulled down in the square and Ger hit it perfectly.  Keith Murphy quickly scored Kildysart's only 2nd point from play to extend Kildysart's lead 1-6 to 4 points.  The final points were a free from Damian Murtagh in the 44th minute and a point from the Gaels in the 55th minute. Good defending for the rest of the match ensured that score line remained unchanged.
