Ladies U14 Big Win over Banner 2

19/03/2016:  The Kildysart Ladies got a dream start to their 2016 season with a big win over Banner's second team 7-14 to 1-4 this evening in Ennis.  The Banner settled quickly and stunned Kildysart with a goal in the opening minute.  Captain Amy Murphy then kick-started the Kildysart attack which eventually saw 8 different scorers get on the board.  Points from Kyla Foley and Roisin Donnellan drew the sides level by the 5th minute and set the pace for the remainder of the game. With a free kick and Megan Sheehan's fist the ball ended up in the back of the net. The full back line of Rachel Conway, Clara O'Grady and Laura Reidy fought for the ball well and kept out the Banner threat. Points from Roisin Donnellan (2) and Kyla Foley, followed by a quick paced ball from Sinead Kelly resulted in a Hannah Mikhael point to give Kildysart the lead 1-7 to 1-0 at the turn of the first quarter. Two goals from Caitlin Casey in a matter of minutes followed by a point each from the 2 mid fielders, gave the Blues the lead at the break 3-9 to 1-0.

Katie Donnellan's slot between the post started the scoring in the second half. The Banner never gave up and but Sarah Casey and Aoife McMahon kept the ball out of the Kildysart's half. Rachel O'Sullivan and Grace Sheerer insured that Niamh Moloney kept a clean sheet after the initial goal. Two more points from Megan Sheenan, (one from a difficult angle) plus a point from Hannah Mikhael gave the Blues a 3-13 to 1-0 lead 5 minutes into the second half. Three more Kildysart goals in a matter of minutes saw Kildysart really pull ahead. The new mid field duo of Emma Byrne and Aoife Cleary insured that the ball stayed in the Banner half. The full forward line of Leah O'Donnell and Jade McNamara piled on the pressure and resulted in Emily Leahy getting the final score for Kildysart. The valiant Banner battled on and scored the last 3 unanswered points, however Kildysart were victors on a scoreline of 7-14 to 1-4.
