Kildysart Win Back to Back Minor C Titles

23/10/2016:  This years Minor C Championship was a replay of the 2015 Final when Kildysart took on the Banner on this morning in Ballynacally.  Kildysart retained their Minor C title with a comprehensive win 2-16 to 2-3.  Kildysart have dominated this competition winning the title 4 out of the last 5 seasons, - 2012-2013 in amalgamation with Coolmeen and the last 2 years on their own.  Kildysart were undefeated in 2016 and have won 13 out of the 15 matches over the course of the last 2 seasons.  Kildysart have been very successful in underage football this season with the boys winning county championships at U18, U16 & U14 and the ladies winning at U14.

Kildysart dominated all over the pitch and held Banner to no point from play until they scored a goal in the dying minutes of the game.  Kildysart started strong and led by 4 points to no score before the Banner pointed a free in the 17th minute to open their account.  Banner threatened a bit in the first half but Kildysart’s goal was well protected by goalie Aidan O’Loughlin and backs Stephen Sheehan and Cormac Ginnane.  Kildysart went on to kick 3 more scores and Banner tacked another free to leave the score at the break Kildysart 0-7, Banner 0-2.

The first goal of the match came early on in the second half when Seamus Casey won a breaking ball on the Banner kick out and charged straight for goal.  Casey was one on one with the goalie and he slotted the ball neatly into the corner of the net.  Kildysart 1-10, Banner 0-3.  Three minutes later Kildysart were awarded a penalty when Banner goalie was yellow carded. Luke McGrath converted this for the Blues who now led by a score of 2-10 to 0-3.  Things were looking comfortable for Kildysart when the Banner were then awarded a penalty in the 22nd minute.  However Kildysart kicked on from here and were winning 2-16 to 1-3 when the Banner slotted home their only score from play to end the match Kildysart 2-16 to Banner 2-3.  Martin Frawley presented the shield to Kildysart captain Barry Crehan.
