Kildysart/Coolmeen U16 Win Local Derby

01/03/2014: Kildysart/Coolmeen U16's secured a win in their first match in the top division by defeating neighbours Clondegad in a closely contested match on Saturday last.

Kildysart/Coolmeen were dominating the play in the first 10 minutes but were unable to put anything on the scoreboard.  The momentum switched to Clondegad in the 12th minute when Donal McCarthy capitalised on a lapse in the amalgamation defense and put ball in the back of the net. It was short lived however as Kildysart/Coolmeen responded with 5 unanswered points to lead by the 24th minute 5 points to a goal. Clondegad kept in the game clawing back 2 points leaving the sides level at the half 5 points to 1-2.

Kildysart/Coolmeen took the lead in the restart and they stayed there for the remainder of the match. The first 20 minutes of the second half produced some excellent football and the gap between the sides remained at only 1 or 2 points. With 10 minutes remaining and the score Kildysart/Coolmeen 9 points - Clondegad 1 - 4 Kildysart/Coolmeen finished off the match with 3 unanswered points. Final score Kildysart/Coolmeen 12 points, Clondegad 1-4.
