26/09/14: Kildysart/Coolmeen were deserved winners of the U12 West Clare B championship this evening overcoming estuary neighbours Kilimer on scoreline of 3-9 to 4-2. Kildysart were previous West Clare U12 champions when they won back to back titles in 2010 & 2011.

Kilimer were first on the scoreboard with a goal in the 5th minute, against the run of play. Prior to that Kildysart/Coolmeen had all the possession but were unable to get points on the board with many chances going wide. However, Kil/Cool found their groove and steadily made their way level with points from Conor Moloney, Conor Hassett (free), and Fergal Ginnane. Conor Hassett took advantage of the frees awarded by slotting over the next three placed balls. Conor Hassett then raised the green flag for Kildysart/Coolmeen and capped it off with a point from play to give the amalgamation a 1-7 to 1-0 lead at the break.

Fergal Ginnane got the ideal restart, bagging a goal 2 minutes in to open up a 10 point lead. However Kilimer were determined and fought back hard. They scored a point and then had a good goal chance denied them by Kieran Lorrigan. They kept up the pressure and were rewarded with a goal to narrow the gap to 6.  Kilimer had the momentum but the Kildysart/Coolmeen backs, led by Ronan Murphy kept the ball well cleared. Fergal Ginnane's 2nd goal again brought the lead up to 9. Kilimer weren't through yet and goaled to reduce the lead to 6 once more. Fergal Ginnane scored the last 2 points for Kil/Cool to give them the lead 3-9 to 3-1 with 4 minutes remaining. But the tenacious Kilimer went on the attack once more scoring an unanswered 1-1 to narrow the gap to 4. However, Kildysart/Coolmeen held on and won 3-9 to 4-2. Well done to the team and management Stephen Hassett and Mike Murphy.
