Kil/Cool U16 County Champions

Cùil Mìn / Kildysart defeated Kilmihil / Shannon Gaels in the County U – 16 B Football Championship final on a score of 1 – 12 to 3 – 02. This was a pulsating game of football between the two sides. Kilmihil / S. Gaels got the first point of the game. For the rest of the half Cùil Mìn / Kildysart got on top at midfield and dominated possession. This led to numerous scoring chances. Four pointed frees from Captain Ben Cleary, plus points from Cian Murphy and Darragh Cleary gave Cùil Mìn / Kildysart a halftime lead of 0 – 06 to 0 – 01.
Kilmihil / S.Gaels started the second half in determined fashion but the Cùil Mìn / Kildysart defence held firm. The introduction of substitute Aaron Slobody paid dividends when he slammed the ball to the net to extend the Cùil Mìn / Kildysart lead. Kilmihil / S.Gaels responded with a goal and point to reduce the margin. Cùil Mìn / Kildysart regained their composure with points from Cian Murphy (3), Alan Normoyle, Barry Crehan and Seamus Casey. In the closing stages of the game Kilmihil / S.Gaels scored two goals but Cùil Mìn / Kildysart held on for a deserved victory.
To the cheers of the large gathering of supporters of Cùil Mìn / Kildysart, Captain Ben Cleary accepted the cup on behalf of his team.
