27/04/2018: Kildysart Ladies Junior B continue their winning ways with a home romp over neighbours Fergus Rovers, who made their second journey to Kildysart in as many weeks.  The first time out was a league match where Kildysart mounted a dramatic comeback to eke out a one-point win after finding themselves 11 points in arrears.  This time around, it was a completely different affair with Kildysart winning by a 17 point margin, Kildysart 7-10, Fergus Rovers 3-5.

The first half was very competitive with both sides sizing each other up.  Captain Sinead Fox started off the scoring in the first half but a point from Laura Hanrahan had the visitors level by the 7th minute.  The Kildysart rear-guard were on high alert and determined to keep the ball out. Eleven minutes would pass without a score before Kyla Foley’s point started off a purple patch for Kildysart.  Catherine Pender, on route to a hat trick, got the first goal of the match when she finished off a lovely pass from Gillian Finucane.  Pender popped over the next point before Rebecca Cahill raised the first green flag for the Rovers.  With 25 minutes gone, Kildysart were in front by two, 1-3 to 1-1 and it was still all to play for.  Foley gave the Blues some breathing space when she fired the ball past the keeper just before the break of halftime.  Kildysart 2-3, Rovers 1-2.

At the restart, both sides were reduced to 13 players each due to two Fergus Rovers players having other commitments.  Kildysart took control of the match from the restart when Pender bagged her second goal. Points from Foley and Ashley O’Brien (2) extended the lead until Fergus Rovers fought back with a goal in the 10th minute from Eimear Stephens.  Kildysart backs were clearing all around them which allowed the Blues to continue their rampage adding a further 3-2 while keeping the Rovers scoreless.  The Rovers responded in the 23rd minute when Emma Hill added a goal to bring the score to Kildysart 6-9, Rovers 3-3.  Impact sub Teresa Grace, making her debut for Kildysart, added the last two scores for the home team.  Her first touch was a quick shot to the back of the net, followed up with a keenly taken point.  Final score: Kildysart 7-10, Fergus Rovers 3-5.  Referee Michael Talty.
