01/06/2013:  it was a fitting send off for John Clancy, as he heads off to Australia next week, to captain his side to victory over Cratloe and put Kildysart joint first in the Garry Cup race. Clancy, who lined out as full back will be missed as the team faces their final match with Clondegad on 22 June.

Kildysart dominated the first half after Cratloe opened the scoring.  John Ginnane's point in the 5th minute was the first of 9 unanswered scores for Kildysart. This gave the home side a 9 points to 1 half time advantage.  A determined Cratloe struck back with a goal in the opening minute of the restart.  Keith Murphy provided both a Kildysart's scores in the second half scoring 1-1.  Cratloe managed 2 more points but were never really a threat.  Final score Kildysart 1-10, Cratloe 1-4.

Team: Liam Griffin, Michael Eustace, John Clancy, Kieran Eyres (0-1, 1f), Damian Hill, Brian Eyres, John Ginnane (0-1) Keith O'Connor, Neilie O'Connor (0-1), Christy Clancy, Ger Kelly (0-3), Niall Ginnane, John Murtagh (0-1), Keith Murphy (1-2), Damian Murtagh (0-1, 1f). Subs: Ian Slobody, Eoin Cleary, Brian Moloney.

The win puts Kildysart joint first with Clondegad in the Garry Cup League table on 9 points with the Gaels and Kilrush staying on 8 points, both having suffered losses at the weekend.  It all comes down to the wire on the weekend of the 22 June when Kildysart take on Clondegad at home, Kilrush travel to take on what is expected to be a full-strength Cratloe and the Gaels play O'Currys in Doonaha. A win for us and we top the table, a loss for us would require either the Gaels or Kilrush to lose for us to remain in top 3.  I don't know what happens if we draw with Clonedgad because we'd be equal on points, equal on matches with each other and equal on points difference.  Hon the Blues!!

Presentation to John Clancy wishing himself and Mairead all the best in their travels
