15/07/01: Kildysart played Kilmihil at 7pm this evening in Kilmihil in the Banner Cup Division 3 semi-final and thanks to their hard fought win they are now promoted to Division 2. Kildysart played with the addition of a strong breeze in the first half and went in at half time with a scoreline of 11 points to 4 in kildysarts favour. Ger Kelly was leading scorer in the first half with 6 points (4 from play and 2 from frees). Brian O Sullivan also got 2 from play and Damien Murtagh, Niall Ginnane and John Clancy got one a piece. The second half was a much tougher battle with the homeside having the advantage of the breeze. Brian O Sullivan scored the first point for Kildysart and Kilmihil then made a comeback and scored 1-2 without reply. Kildysarts next score came from Damien Murtagh from a free but Kilmihil rallied again and scores were level with ten minutes to go. Kildysart dug deep and edged ahead with another free from Damien Murtagh and Dermot Clancy (sub for Niall Ginnane) won the ball, passed to Damien Hill who kicked the ball into the edge of the square where Keith Murphy stuck the ball in the back of the net with only 3 minutes to go. Kildysart kept their heads, Kilmihil failed to score anymore and Kildysart were deserved winners with a big hearted performance put in by all. Final score was 1-14 to 1-10.  Report by Mairead Kelly & Mary Kelly
