Intermediates Lose Tight Battle With Kilrush

25/05/2013:  Kildysart Intermediates suffered their first loss today v Kilrush in round 5 of the Garry Cup 1-12 to 1-10.  It was a close battle that saw the sides level 5 times and the lead change hands 4 times before Kilrush won out in the end. Damian Murtagh opened the scoring with a free in the 2nd minute and Kilrush responded in kind.  Points from Niall Ginnane and Damian Murtagh (free) had Kildysart in the lead 3 to 1 but Kilrush found the back of the net to go ahead for the first time at the 12th minute.  Two minutes later Kildysart went ahead when Keith Murphy fisted one to the net.  Kildysart added a point and Kilrush followed with 2 more to level it at 1-4 a piece. The sides both scored a point to be level at the break with 1-5 each. 

The second half saw Kildysart go ahead by 2 only to have Kilrush level again by the 34th minute.  Each team scored a free to have it level again heading into the last quarter.  Kilrush went 2 points ahead and Kildysart came back with a free from Damian Murtagh.  Kilrush scored 2 more and Kildysart were only able to get one more between the posts to leave final score Kilrush 1-12 to Kildysart 1-10.

Subs Ian Slobody for Niall Ginnane, John Murtagh for Christy Clancy. 

Clondegad and Shannon Gaels had wins this weekend so the standing in the Garry Cup has Kilrush & Gaels joint first with 8 points and Kildysart & Clondegad joint second with 7 points. Next weekend Kildysart takes on Cratloe at home and Clonegad take on Kilrush at home and the Gaels travel to St. Breckans.
