14/04/2014:  Kildysart/Coolmeen U16's gave it their all this evening in Gurteen and were unfortunate not to win or at the very least draw.  Mikey Donnellan kicked the would be levelling point in the last seconds of the match only to be very questionably ruled wide to give Doora/Barefield the win 1-8 to Kildysart/Coolmeen 10 points.  Seamus Casey put up the first point for Kildysart/Coolmeen followed quickly by Barry Crehan converting Seamus' blocked goal attempt to lead 2 points to 1.  Doora/Barefield then got the benefit of a very soft goal and led 1-2 to 2 points by the end of the first quarter. The teams swapped points and then Adam Carrig made a goal save to keep Kildysart/Coolmeen in the game. Barry Crehan's 2 points and 1 more for Doora/Barefield left the Parish ahead 1-4 to 5 points at the break.

After the restart, points from Seamus Casey, Alan Normoyle and Ryan Casey and 1 from Doora/Barefield saw the sides level at the 40th minute. Kildysart/ Coolmeen were playing the better football and were able to withstand the physicality of the game. The backs led by Kieran O'Brien spared nothing to keep Doora at bay.  Kildysart/Coolmeen went ahead for the first time since the opening minutes with points from Stevie Sheehan and Luke McGrath.  This lead looked very tenuous with Doora/Barefield were awarded a penalty in the 52nd minute.  Adam Carrig read the shot well and deflected it for a 45' which the Parish converted to bring them within 1 point.  Doora/Barefield then slotted over 2 frees to give them the lead heading into the 2 minutes of injury time as signaled by the ref.  Kildysart/Coolmeen fought hard to get the point for the draw.  After a long run up the field, Aaron Slobody passed to Mikey Donnellan and from the vantage point of the stands, Mikey's shot looked like it went between the posts - but the ref ruled it wide and then blew the whistle.  Final score Kildysart/Coolmeen 10 points to Doora/Barefield 1-8.  Congratulations to all the team on a well played, hard fought game of football.
